MESSAGE FROM ATA HEADQUARTERS:
MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
“As you are well aware, COVID-19 and the Delta variant are well and alive. Today for the first time since February there were over 100,000 new cases in the US. Not everyone is vaccinated, some by choice, and some by circumstance. Since we have so many competitors, judges, and family members in one venue, it creates the potential to introduce a significant source of COVID among the vulnerable population at our tournaments. Therefore, it is imperative that the mask mandate imposed by ATA headquarters is respectfully and strongly followed by all our RTTLs. You represent the ATA and headquarters at every regional event. You set the example! We understand that you don’t want to become the mask police, however, it is your responsibility that all rules are followed at the regional events. We are asking you that do the best you can in enforcing all the rules.
We want everyone safe and back to normal as quickly as possible. At the present time, however, we are not there. Not all areas of the country have the same guidelines for the wearing of masks. It does not matter. This is a mandate from ATA and is not open for debate. That may sound harsh, but it is a necessary harshness at this time. As always, I am confident that, regardless of your personal opinions about the wearing of masks, you will support the ATA and everything we do concerning tournaments. “
